Stephen Jackson Update
The season has barely even started, and already trade talks are heating up. This is at least true regarding Golden State’s disgruntled guard, Stephen Jackson. Coach Don Nelson and management have publicly stated that the situation is not a distraction and that Jackson would still play an equally important role on the team, but the season opener versus the Suns shows differently. Jackson, known for his performance in clutch time, started the 4th quarter of the close game at the bench without even taking part in the team huddle before the start of the final period. Is this how you treat your best player if he is supposed to be a big part of your team? I think not. It is obvious the Warriors don’t expect Jackson to be there much longer.
A few teams have already expressed serious interest in trading for Jackson. The ones who could potentially do so financially are the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Shaq and Lebron have also commented, stating that they would enjoy playing with Jackson and welcome him into the team with open arms. However, the Warriors are asking for Zydrunas Ilgauskas in return, which could kill the trade. My feeling tells me Jackson will someway, somehow end up in a Cavaliers uniform before this season ends.
