You want numbers? You sure? Okay, then think of FiveMagazine as your treasure map and follow us deep into the world of stats …

1-12 – the second-best coaching record in Oklahoma City Thunder history, held by P.J. Carlissimo. In first place? That would be Scott Brooks with a masterful 10-25 record.

4 – years of playoffs drought coming in Dallas. The Mavericks have never reached the post-season with a Democrat sitting in the White House. But with a Republican in the Oval Office, the Texans have made the playoffs in 14 of 20 years. Looks gloomy for Dallas. Let’s hope for Dirk that Obama doesn’t add on a second term

27 – is a horror number for Andrew Bynum. The Lakers center recently scored that many points against Memphis. And in the next game – on January 31 – he suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury. The bizarre thing is that Bynum last season dropped 27 points against Memphis before injuring his knee in the next game – on January 13 – missing the rest of the season and the playoffs.

31 – years have passed since NBA players were seen playing H.O.R.S.E. Back then, CBS televised “Pistol” Pete Maravich and company doing their trick shots. In 2009, H.O.R.S.E. was added to All-Star Weekend for the first time.

61 – points were scored by Kobe Bryant in the first game without Bynum against New York – a new record for Madison Square Garden.

87 – free throws hit in a row by Raptors playmaker Jose Calderon since April 2008. The Spaniard missed a possible 88th consecutive foul shot against Milwaukee. Just 10 more free throws would have broken the record held by former Timberwolves guard Micheal Williams. Speaking of free throws …

127 – of 190 free throws were made by Shaquille O’Neal in December and January. And the big man promptly began calling himself “Shaqovic”. The Diesel said the un-Shaq-like 66.8% (career: 55.7%) free throw percentage could be traced to him returning to his shooting technique from back in high school. That’s just great. But why did it take him 18 YEARS to think of that!?!
